Mission Statement The Kennesaw State University Compliance Office strives to provide a comprehensive compliance program with a focus on four general elements: rules education, policies and procedures, monitoring and self-reporting. This focus allows us to protect the integrity of the University, while fostering a culture of compliance and institutional control as required by the NCAA. Our visibility and availability are important aspects of providing a proactive approach as we assist the University, our student-athletes, institutional staff and donors/boosters in understanding the complex nature of NCAA rules.

Contacts Time Period – General Rule First Permissible Contact - July 1 following completion of junior year Exception – Men’s Basketball  First permissible Contact – opening day of junior year, but only at prospect’s educational institution  During April recruiting period, contact may occur at residence as well

Contacts Two Year College Prospects 2-year prospect who is not a qualifier may not be contacted in person during first year of enrollment at 2-year school Four Year College Prospects Must receive release from 4-year school

Telephone Calls Time Period – General Rule Permissible beginning July 1 following completion of junior year No more than one call a week

Telephone Calls Exceptions Baseball, TR&F/XC, W. Lacrosse, Softball, Volleyball – one call a week outside of a contact period, unlimited during a contact period Men’s Basketball – first permissible call June 15 at end of sophomore year, and calls are unlimited

Telephone Calls Exceptions Women’s Basketball -  One call during month of April during junior year on or after the Thursday after Division I Women’s Final Four  One call during month of May during junior year  One call on or after June 1 – June 20 of junior year  One call on or after June 21 – June 30 of junior year  Three calls during month of July following junior year, with not more than one call per week.  After July, one call per week outside a contact period, unlimited during a contact period

Telephone Calls Applications Once program reaches limit on calls for a particular time period, program may not initiate an additional phone call  Leave a message, return a phone call, etc.

Phone Call Exceptions Official Visits – Unlimited phone calls during 5 days immediately preceding official visit NLI Signing Date – Unlimited phone calls on initial signing date and two days immediately after Phone Calls After Commitment – Unlimited phone calls day after prospect signs NLI, acceptance of admission or financial aid agreement Off Campus Contact Exception – Unlimited phone calls on day a permissible, in-person, off-campus contact occurs

Contacts – Limited to 7 contacts and evaluations per prospect. During senior year, no more than three contacts are permissible Men’s Basketball – during academic year, limited to 7 contacts and evaluations per prospect and 130 recruiting-person days Women’s Basketball – during academic year, limited to 7 contacts and evaluations, with no more than 3 contacts during senior year. Also limited to 100 recruiting-person days

Evaluations – Men’s Basketball Academic Year Recruiting Periods Regularly scheduled high school, prep school or 2-year college contests and practices Regular scholastic activities only involving prospects enrolled at that institution April Evaluation Period – Only at nonscholastic certified events Summer Evaluation Period – Only at institutional basketball camps and certified noninstitutional organized events

Evaluations – Women’s Basketball Academic Year Evaluation Period Regularly scheduled high school, prep school or 2-year college contests and practices Regular scholastic activities only involving prospects enrolled at that institution Last full weekend of Fall Contact Period – nonscholastic events Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Spring Evaluation Period – nonscholarstic events Summer Evaluation Period – Only at institutional basketball camps and certified noninstitutional organized events

Evaluation Days – /11 Softball – 50 evaluation days, excluding high school softball competition Volleyball – 80 evaluation days, including coach’s involvement in local sports club outside a contact/evaluation period

Contact/Eval and Phone Logs All Contacts/Evals, Telephone Calls and s must be logged in Jumpforward. Some sports do not have any recruits listed in Jumpforward – how are you communicating with prospects? Expense reports will not be approved until recruiting activity shows up on Jumpforward logs.

POP QUIZ - Question Is it permissible to evaluate prospects competing on-campus during a quiet period?

POP QUIZ - Answer No, pursuant to a October 22, 2003 interp, it is not permissible to evaluate prospects competing on-campus outside of a contact or evaluation period Counting Contacts and Evaluations. Evaluations that occur during the academic year count against the permissible number of recruiting opportunities. Outside of the academic year, evaluations do not count against the annual number of recruiting opportunities. Contacts that occur with a prospective student-athlete count against the permissible number of total recruiting opportunities regardless of the time period (e.g., academic year or outside the academic year). All contacts and evaluations are subject to recruiting calendar restrictions.

POP QUIZ - Answer c.Katie supervising the use of the facility on behalf of Kennesaw State Activities Not Involving Institution's Staff. The use of a member institution's facilities for physical activities by a group that includes prospective student-athletes shall not be considered a tryout, provided the institution's athletics department staff members or representatives of its athletics interests are not involved in the conduct, promotion or administration of the activity (other than activities incidental to supervising the use of the facilities) and are subject to all applicable NCAA recruiting legislation (see Bylaws , , and ). (Revised: 1/9/06 effective 8/1/06, 8/12/10)

Official Visits – Pre-Visit Process 1.Complete and submit Official Visit Request form via Jumpforward under compliance tab of prospect 2.Upload transcript(s) and test score(s) via Jumpforward under document tab of prospect 3.Create and upload itinerary under document tab of prospect

Official Visits – During Process 1.Have PSA Sign Official Visit Prospect Guidelines Form 2.Have Student-Host sign Host Instructions and Receipt Form 3.Collect all receipts during visit to submit with expense report

Official Visits – Post-Visit Process 1.Complete the Official Visit Summary/Meals Form 2.Attach all completed Post-Visit Documents and receipts to expense report A.Prospect Guidelines Form B.Summary/Meals Form C.Student-Host Instructions 3.Submit expense report, along with all required documents, to the business office.

Official Visits – Student-Host may now receive a maximum of $40 for each day of the official visit (max $80) Student-Host may now receive an additional $20 for any additional prospect hosted per day.

Official Visits – We may not decorate or arrange for personalized recruiting aids. This includes decorations in hotel rooms, locker rooms, arena, offices, etc. Prospect may not participate in any game day simulations.

Unofficial Visits Logging Unofficial Visits All scheduled unofficial visits are required to be logged Unofficial Visit Form is on Jumpforward Submit for approval after unofficial visit concludes
