Habitat for Humanity St. Augustine/ St. Johns County
History The Habitat for Humanity in St. Johns County started 1993 Founded by Presbyterian minister Dr. John Hunter Habitat for Humanity has received several large donations. Helping the St. Johns County chapter grow. Since 1994, the organization has provided over 90 safe and decent homes to hard working families.
Mission Statement
Vision A world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat for humanity has a new community wide program, it is now partnering with local businesses to assist in fundraising to build new houses each year, HFH is now taking clothing donations by collecting it all around the St. John’s County.
Rationale Providing quality housing for families allows those families to live in decent conditions and concentrate on improving other aspects of their lives The “ownership” factor enhances the success of the placement of families into these homes The Scheidel Family Foundation of Ponte Verdra Full scholarships for both adults and students living in Habitat homes “Prep” Club 100% of school age children living in Habitat for Humanity of St. John’s County homes are participating in the Prep Club Program for the elderly The uninhabitable home is demolished and a new inhabitable home is built on the same land
