Characters LLLLouis because most of the things in the book happen to Louis and the story goes to Louis’s thoughts a lot. SSSSam, he is Louis’s best friend TTTThe Cob, he is Louis’s dad and steals the trumpet. SSSSerena, she is married to Louis and they have cygnets.

Setting  Billings, Montana, that’s where the cob stole a trumpet and got shot.  Canada, that’s where Louis was born and were Serena and him had cygnets.  Camp Kookooskoos that was Louis’s first job. Louis also saved Applegate’s life.  Boston, Louis worked for the swan boats and spent a night at the Ritz.  Philadelphia Louis worked at a night club and lived at the zoo. He and Serena got married there too.  Red Rock Lake that’s where Louis spends the winter and falls in love with Serena.

Plot A few major events are,  Louis gets born and finds out he can’t talk. Louis goes to School and learns to read and write. Louis goes to School and learns to read and write.
