Accomplishments  Multi-functional robot in being able to drive, load frisbees, shoot, and climb. We scored 34 points in one match! Last year we were only able to drive and operate a lever to balance on a bridge which made our maximum point value only 10 points per match.  Learned about and used pneumatics for the first time. A small cylinder used as part of the shooting mechanism to let the frisbee down from the hopper into the shooter. Two large pneumatic cylinders were used to lift the robot onto the climbing tower.  A programming first was accomplished for our team when one of our students, Sean McCarty, took it upon himself to learn Labview software and create a program enabling our robot to shoot three 6-point goals during the autonomous period (first 15 seconds of each match). This was a huge advantage because usual 3-pointers were awarded double points during that period.  Much improved pit area for competition as we built a "frame" for it and invested in a rolling double toolbox with many hand and power tools, which were essential.

Accomplishments  Bought and displayed large banner with sponsors, distributed buttons and rubber bracelets with team logo and sponsors. These items all were essential in marketing our team in order to be chosen for the finals by one of the top 8 teams.  Marketing and Publicity Team (along with others) presented and demonstrated last year's robot to Strongwell and secured a $5,000 donation. Strongwell gave our students a tour of the facility and served a luncheon with all of their engineers present.  Presented our program to the BTCS School Board and will do a presentation on May 9th for the Area Supervisors Meeting at the Administration Building.  Were chosen for the finals of the Smoky Mountain Regional. Last year we were not chosen, but were 1st Runner Up (Last year, we did get to participate in a finals match because another robot went down).

Our Robot  Features Climbing capabilities (level 1 climb) Defensive capabilities Autonomously shoots frisbees Also shoots during tele- op period Pneumatic system powers climbing and loading mechanisms Four-disc hopper
