The New Technology Applications TEKS and Courses  Adopted revisions to Tech Apps TEKS (K-12) and 19 new Tech Apps Courses (HS) became effective September 26, 2011 for implementation Fall 2012 (19 TAC Chapter 126)  New HS Courses are identified in the TEKS with “Beginning with School Year ” at the end of the title Example: § Web Design(One Credit), Beginning with School Year

The New Technology Applications High School Courses  Currently, TAC §74.3(b)(2)(K) requires districts to offer at least four high school level technology applications courses.  The TAC, Chapter 74, Subchapter A, Required Curriculum was revised effective May 30, removing the requirement to teach any of the offered Tech Apps courses with 10 or more students enrolled. §74.3(b)(4)

The New Technology Applications TEKS Professional Development  State-developed Professional Development for K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 is currently being offered by ESCXI right now through Project Share.  Format - 6 CPE hour online courses, free through Project Share.  Purpose - to assist with the implementation of the new standards, NOT to teach new content  Professional Development for High School is currently in development, and will be offered in the future directly by TEA (date TBD)
