History  Founded in Columbus, Indiana in 1919 by Clessie Cummins  1929 Clessie took W.G. Irwin for a ride in Americas first diesel-powered automobile  WWII Cummins put their engines in most military heavy duty trucks.  Late 1950’s, Cummins had sales of over $100 million and commanding lead in market.

Capacity Planning  650 engines per day per factory  Cummins has a Central Parts Warehouse in Harrisburg, PA and Memphis

Layout Planning  Factories are layout in a assembly line with different sections that a person would take care of what they are building.  Each person will take care of section of the engine they are building no one will be working on the same part of the engine.

Quality Planning  Cummins also makes sure that they produce a grade A engine for there customers are satisfied.  Also Cummins will guarantee there engines are the best by giving a warranty with the engines for if something goes wrong.

Methods Planning  Cummins has to think about a lot of stuff when it comes to the resources for there engines.  There main materials they need it steel, rubber, also oil. These are the ones that are most important when it comes to the engine because they are the most expensive.  Also anther important thing is people to create the engine Cummins is always looking for people to hire to work for them.
