Strategic position of Community Table Broker between community and government at all levels Influence on government policies and programs in dealing with community challenges Well-situated to enhance linguistic majority-minority relations with the Quebec government (including organizations funded by the Quebec government) by directly influencing programs and policy. Community Table Secretariat and 11 CEDEC offices form one entity, working together to achieve results for the betterment of Quebec’s English Linguistic Minority Community. 18

Role of the volunteer-driven Community Economic Development and Employability Committee (CEDEC) The CEDEC promotes and supports community economic development and entrepreneurship through a Community Capacity Building (CCB) process by Local Action Groups. The CEDEC facilitates discussion, and provides opportunities for community members and local action groups to realize a vision and develop their ideas. This includes building local capacity by encouraging and teaching people how to continue this participatory process themselves. The CEDEC provides strategic information and identifies appropriate resources to advance community plans. The CEDEC is sensitizing the community to opportunities through entrepreneurship. The CEDEC builds networks to share Information and develops partnerships to benefit the English- speaking community locally and throughout Quebec. The CEDEC motivates the community by recognizing and promoting community successes! The CEDEC mobilizes community, providing support to organize and gather around common goals. The CEDEC mentors community members (including our youth) by working with them to identify assets, challenges and opportunities in their communities. 19
