Service Learning Service learning is a form of experimental learning by helping the community through engagement of services. Service learning combines formal instruction to a related service for the community. Engaging in Service learning is a great way to give back to your community!

Valdosta Country Club

Doug Henderson Memorial Fund My service learning experience at the eighth annual Doug Henderson Memorial Fund was very fun. I had many responsibilities for this service. My jobs were to fill up the coolers with a variety of beers and cold drinks that were already bought from the family of Doug Henderson. After me and a friend went driving around on the golf course providing the men with drinks of their choice.

My jobs were to fill up the coolers with a variety of beers and cold drinks that were already bought from the family of Doug Henderson. After me and a friend went driving around on the golf course providing the men with drinks of their choice.

If I were able to do this community service again I would. The Valdosta Country Club was a beautiful course and was full of wonderful people. I had the best time helping them out. I benefited in many ways working that day for them. I not only met tons of great people but I felt good about myself after I had left knowing I stayed the whole day with no pay.

Adopt A Road The Adopt A Road community service provided me with a chance to help pick up the streets of Valdosta, in my case North Ashley Street. During my service hour a group of us led by our peer mentor Matt, walked down North Ashley picking up any bottles, bags, and paper products we could find. Once we reached our destination point we turned around and walked back on the opposite side of the street picking up more trash.

Adopt A Road left me feeling good about my community and made me wish that the citizens in the city of Valdosta would think twice before littering.

Adopt A Road was a fun experience. Even though I had to walk down the street with a bright orange vest that made me look like I was in prison I still had a great time with my friends and peer mentor cleaning up the streets of Valdosta!
