Passer à la première page African Biofuels Center (ABC) Definition The African Biofuels Center (ABC) is a specialized technical unit and subsidiary of AFREC concerns with promoting and developing biofuels resources in Africa with objective to achieve energy security through the establishment of integrated biofuels industry characterized by “value chain”, self-sufficiency, and self-reliance with regard to oil products supplies whether that in form of fossil-based petroleum products or renewably-based biofuels products.

Passer à la première page Objectives of the ABC n Promote sustainable biofuels technology and production; n Sponsor the transfer of foreign technology and experience; n Motivate countries to set up national programs on biofuels; n Establish a database on biofuels resources and industry in Africa and provide information; n Provide guidance from preliminary infrastructure to market; n Assist in setting up consistent regulatory frameworks; n Organize conferences and meetings on industry and policy issues; and n Establish efficient networks of stakeholders.

Passer à la première page Programs  Formation of a Ministerial Sub-Committee within CAMEN;  Creation of advisory panel to represent corporate stakeholders;  Setting up strategies to successfully managing the emerging markets;  Assessing critical issues such as: food vs. energy security, diversification of supplies, substitution for oil, etc.;  Provision of training, capacity building and information;  Establishing an active forum for dialogue, experience exchange, technology transfer and information dissemination through Internet, newsletters, conferences and training sessions;  Creating partnership with concerned regional and international bodies.
