How to adjust gas turbine performance calculated by GT PRO to that provided from a vendor Let’s assume that you have done some preliminary cycle analyses using the GT PRO database of gas turbines. You have selected the appropriate gas turbine, and want to further refine your heat balance calculations to reflect the current production model performance.

How to adjust gas turbine performance calculated by GT PRO to that provided from a vendor You call your gas turbine vendor requesting performance for the specific site conditions for your proposed plant. They comply, and now you want to ensure that GT PRO’s calculations reflect the vendor supplied gas turbine performance. Vendor’s data - Output kW T exh °F M exh -830 #/sec.

Output kW T exh °F M exh -830 lb/sec Vendor kW 987 °F lb/sec GT PRO % + 3 °F %  Need to reconcile these differences to properly model gas turbine with the plant heat balance

Need to reduce exhaust flow from to 830 #/sec., or –3.2/833 which is -0.39%.39

Need to increase T exh by 2°F

T exh P/P 0 Gas Turbine Exhaust Temperature Control Curve (Effect of increased Control Temperature) Increased Control T shifts control curve upward Increase in T exh, less than increase of Control T Increased Control T results in greater pressure ratio Control T (Increase)

Need to increase T exh by 2°F, so add about 2°F to T f. 2

-.364 Change the compressor efficiency reduction by ~ half the ratio of the output calculated by GT PRO and that provided by the vendor.

To match the gas turbine performance calculated by GT PRO with that provided by a vendor, go to ; from there, select the tab and : Match the air flow by adjusting Match exhaust temperature by adjusting Match output by adjusting Positive number decreases output; negative number increases output by ~ twice the entered percentage of change.

GT PRO will now calculate gas turbine performance consistent with that received from the vendor. Since adjusting one parameter could have impacts on other parameters, additional iterations may be required. Two significant points - The sequence of adjustments must be done in the proper sequence or solution may not converge – air flow, control temperature, compressor efficiency
