Reducing Your Carbon Footprint By Shawn Esperti

 Every year the average citizen produces about 10 tons of carbon dioxide — enough to fill two Olympic swimming pools.  average global temperatures are forecasted to rise by as much as 6.4 degrees C (11.5F) by 2100 if emissions are consistent.  Exo ExoEmissions

 Vehicles are responsible for a good proportion of all carbon emissions. Indeed, each gallon of gasoline burned, that’s nearly 20 pounds of carbon dioxide released into our atmosphere.  Tactics such as car pooling and public transportation can cut emissions in half.  Purchasing Hybrids and electric vehicles in the future will make our carbon foot print much smaller. How can I reduce emissions?

 Installing energy efficient alternatives such as solar panels.  Fit energy saving light bulbs.  Install new thermostatic valves on your radiators  Insulation for your hot water tank.  All of these technologies cut back on the use of fossil fuels. New Technologies

 One of the easiest ways to reduce your contribution to greenhouse gases is through recycling.  Making new aluminum from recycled aluminum requires 95 percent less energy the same goes for all recycled and re used products.  Manufacturing a new product from recycled feedstock rather than from virgin materials requires less energy and will decrease dependence on foreign energy sources.

 Block off the chimney when not in use because it will allow hot air to enter the house in summer.  Shut off or turn down appliances when not in use.  Install lined curtains, blinds or solar screen shades to stop the house heating up in summer.  Close windows when cooling or heating the house.

 Overall, Carbon emissions are changing the world as we know it. There are countless ways that we could deter this without changing our lives and routines drastically. Its our choice to either sit back or make a change for the best.
