Labor Pool Composition of universe against which selection decisions are compared accurate measure for accurate reflection skills needed -- relates to job content -- select from universe of those having requisite skills requisite skill levels must not be disc in intent or have disparate impact on protected group (if so, must show are job related)

Relevant Labor Market Spatial Dimension of concept of availability SMSA -- Census data geographic area from which persons can reasonably expect to be hired -- nat. / reg. / local reasonable recruitment area –local community patterns –differs for professional vs. clerical vs. bluecollar job –“accepted commuting norms” -- transit availability, physical barriers, economic conditions
