In this session we will Review the selection criteria Review the Graduate Access Melbourne Scheme Be reminded about the Guaranteed Entry Pathway Find out about the application process and deadlines

Doctor of Medicine (MD) Selection Criteria Four years full-time - 400 Credit points An undergraduate degree in any discipline, with studies to have been completed within the last 10 years (or Grad Dip/Masters/PhD within 10 years of 1 Jan 2016); and Successful completion of pre-requisite studies in anatomy, physiology and biochemistry consisting of at least one subject at second-year level of each (within 10 years of commencing MD); Performance in the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT) or for international students who are located overseas only, either the GAMSAT or the North American Medical Colleges Admission Test (MCAT). All sections in the GAMSAT will be weighted equally; and Multi-mini Interview (MMI) Must have 0.375 FTE for results to be included in final year GPA. If not, provisional GPA would be based on GPA Final -1 and GPA Final -2 MMI = 8 stations. Off shore internationals will be interviewed via Skype

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Selection Criteria Four years full-time - 400 credit points An undergraduate degree in any discipline, with studies to have been completed within the last 10 years (or Grad Dip/Masters/PhD within 10 years of 1 Jan 2016); Successful completion of pre-requisite studies in anatomy, physiology and biochemistry at second-year level (within 10 years of commencing DDS); and Performance in the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT) or, for international students residing overseas, performance in the United States DAT (Dental Admission Test) or the Canadian DAT (Dental Aptitude Test) or the UK GAMSAT (the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test) or the UK BMAT (Biomedical Admissions Test). All sections in the GAMSAT will be weighted equally. From 2016 MCAT will not be accepted for entry to the DDS For the 2016 entry MCAT will not be accepted.

Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) Selection Criteria Three years full time - 300 credit points An undergraduate degree in any discipline, studies to have been completed within the last 10 years (or Grad Dip/Masters/PhD within 10 years of 1 Jan 2016). The grade point average (GPA) will be calculated and considered for each applicant; Successful completion of pre-requisite University subjects in human anatomy and in human physiology (one subject of each) each (within 10 years of commencing DPT); and Multi-mini Interview (MMI).

Doctor of Optometry Selection Criteria Four years full-time - 400 credit points An undergraduate degree; Three subjects at second or third year level (or equivalent) from one or more relevant biological science disciplines; Completion of the GAMSAT, MCAT or OAT (USA); Result is valid for 2 years Both cohorts can do any of the three tests

Selection Criteria MD, DDS & DPT GPA Calculation The Grade Point Average (GPA) will be measured by considering the last 3 years of the applicant’s undergraduate coursework studies. DDS and DPT: including Honours Year. MD: only including Honours if the Honours degree is completed by the end of semester one in the year of application. Weightings will be applied according to GPA calculations Final Year : weighted by a factor of 3 Final Year -1: x 2 Final Year -2: x 1 The method for calculating the GPA for Domestic and International applications is the same. Results in exchange subjects and specified and/or unspecified credit will used in the GPA where possible.

Selection Criteria Doctor of Optometry Weighted Average Mark Calculation The Weighted Average Mark will be measured by considering the final two year (or full-time study equivalent to 200 points) of their tertiary studies. The following weighting will be applied: 100 points of final year level subjects: weighted by a factor of 2 100 points of penultimate year level subjects: weighted by a factor of 1 The method for calculating the Weighted Average Mark is the same for local and international applicants.

Submit online Pre-requisite Assessment Form to the following website: Friday 1 May 2015 – MD, DDS and DPT Should also be able to check pre-req on the GEMSAS application. We are still finalising the database.

Pre-requisite Assessment for OD Approved pre-requisites can be found at https://www.optometry.unimelb.edu.au/ Not on list? Submit subjects to be assessed along with subject descriptions to study-health@unimelb.edu.au for review. Deadline for submitting pre-requisites Round 1: 31st July 2015 Round 2: 30th September 2015 Should also be able to check pre-req on the GEMSAS application. We are still finalising the database.

Graduate Access Melbourne for MD, DDS, DPT & OD Graduate Access Melbourne provides access to applicants whose personal circumstances have had a sustained adverse effect on their academic achievement at undergraduate level or who are members of a specified group known to be under-represented in higher education.

Guaranteed Entry Pathway For applicants who have achieved a certain ATAR and met other conditions. ALL pre-requisites must be met

Guaranteed Entry Pathway Weighted Average Mark (WAM) is calculated for guaranteed entry applicants: Sum of (Mark x credit points for subjects) Sum of (Total credit points for subjects)

Guaranteed Entry Pathway How to Apply MD, DDS Domestic applicants (including Chancellor’s Scholars) - Apply using online form stack: https://theuniversityofmelbourne.formstack.com/forms/2016_guaranteed_entry MD, DDS International applicants, DPT, OD domestic & international – ATAR scores will be identified through our system when you apply online. Guaranteed Australian full-fee wishing to apply for a CSP in MD, DDS & OD must sit the GAMSAT to be eligible to compete for a Commonwealth Supported Place and apply via GEMSAS.
