What would you look for when taking on and using coaches?
Minimum Standards suitable qualification(s) enhanced DBS (CRB) check child welfare training - Safeguarding & Protecting Children workshop liability insurance commitment to a code of conduct suitable references Based on Minimum Standards for Active Coaches, published by sports coach UK in consultation with national governing bodies of sport (NGBs)

CoachMark process: 1.Coach registers on Coaching Herts database 2.Coach completes personal profile 3.Data validated against minimum standards 4.Coach added to list of CoachMark coaches (or not!)

CoachMark progress: Number of CoachMark coaches: 378 Number ‘working towards’ CoachMark: 243 (Coaches on database:2006) Pre-requisite for funded programmes: Sportivate, Active Students, Satellite Clubs Targeted bursary – approx. £28000 to 170 recipients over two years
