8 TH Grade Science

Proteins Are made up of long chains of AMINO ACIDS

Carbohydrates Are made up of long chains of MONOSACCHARIDES (GLUCOSE) Monosaccharides are SIMPLE carbohydrates while adding more monosaccharides to the chain makes COMPLEX carbohydrates Sugars Starches

Foods High in….. CARBOHYDRATES =pasta, crackers, bread, pop tarts, potatoes, candy, rice PROTEINS = beef, fish, seafood, chicken, nuts, soybeans

Foods High in….. CARBOHYDRATES =pasta, crackers, bread, pop tarts, potatoes, candy, rice PROTEINS = beef, fish, seafood, chicken, nuts, soybeans

Foods High in….. LIPIDS =vegetable oil, lard (manteca), PROTEINS = beef, fish, seafood, chicken, nuts, soybeans

OOO CARBOHYDRATES STRUCTURE OOO OOOO

Nucleic Acids (RNA, DNA) are important for hereditary information passed from parent to child. (examples: eye color, hair color, body shape, etc.)

LIPIDS include fats, waxes and oils  FATS- ALSO KNOWN AS TRIGLYCERIDES ARE MADE UP OF 3 FATTY ACIDS AND GLYCEROL  FATS HAVE THE MOST ENERGY IN THEM
