A prefix is a word part added to the beginning of a root word.

A prefix changes the meaning of the word.

A suffix is a word part added to the end of a root word.

A suffix also changes the meaning of the word.

Prefix+Root Word=Word im+patient=impatient notable to wait not able to wait

Root Word+suffix=Word build+er=builder To constructone who one who constructs

Now see if you can determine the meanings of words with prefixes and suffixes.

Blaine was a good swimmer and dancer.
