SAVING YOUR PIVOT ANIMATION FOR THE WEB Your.PIV file is what you used to make the animation, but now you need to save it in a final version that will play easily on a web page. Animated pictures on the web are often saved as a.GIF file type, which lets the animation play automatically. Follow the instructions on the next few pages to save your own Pivot files into.GIF’s….

SAVING YOUR PIVOT ANIMATION FOR THE WEB First of all, open your Pivot animation (and make sure it’s finished). Go to your Home (H:) folder on the network This is a finished animation, so we’ll be saving it as a.GIF Note: once you save your Pivot as a.GIF for the web, you won’t be able to make any changes to the.GIF file. Any changes you want to make will have to be done in the Pivot.PIV file, then it will have to be re-saved as a.GIF

SAVING YOUR PIVOT ANIMATION FOR THE WEB Next, click File > Save Animation. Be sure to choose.Gif (*.gif) in the drop-down box labeled “Save as type”. Remember to save to your Home (H:) folder on the network For the file name, use your initials, class number, and animation1 (or 2). Click the Save button after you’re sure you’ve got everything correctly set up.

SAVING YOUR PIVOT ANIMATION FOR THE WEB Change only one thing in the “Gif Options” box. In the field next to “Shrink frames by 1 /” you need to change the 1 to a 3. Make this a 3. This will cause your animation to become smaller, but that will let it run better on a web page. Click the OK button. This is your Pivot file being made into a smaller animation that will play automatically. To see what it looks like (and how it plays automatically), just go to the desktop, double- click the My Computer icon, double-click your (H:) folder, and look for the file name that you just gave to the.GIF
