Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project Dear Alumni, Thank you for volunteering to spread the word about Outward Bound! We are really excited to have you represent us at the upcoming Parent/Teacher Conference nights at the high schools. The What, Where, When and How This power point will give you a step-by-step guide to prepare you with all you need to know for manning your high school table, meeting parents, and distributing information about upcoming Outward Bound courses. Click to proceed…

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project About Conference Night… Parent/Teacher Conferences occur at every high school twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. It is an after-school opportunity for parents to roam the halls (with or without their child) and meet teachers and coaches. The conferences last 2-4 hours on a week night. On conference night, the high school pulls out tables, setting them all along the primary hallways. These tables are used by clubs and organizations to provide information, as the parents and students roam on conference night. There are all kinds of organizations there to reach out to parents.

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project How is Outward Bound involved? Outward Bound has registered a table at the conference night where you can showcase Outward Bound material and answer questions from visiting parents and students. The table is set aside by the high school when you arrive. All you need to do is show up at your high school on conference night, check in, and locate your table. It’s that easy.

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project An illustration of the informational tables… The high school will set out tables for each organization into the main hallway. The exact location will vary by school but are easy to locate. Depending on the school there will be anywhere from tables.

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project Who will I be working with? You will not be working alone! You will be joined by an Outward Bound staff member and they will be touching base with you both before the high school night to make sure you are coordinated to meet them there and are ready to promote OB to some awesome kids and parents. Our staff member will bring all the necessary materials for the evening: Outward Bound catalogs, cards and other printed materials An Outward Bound T-shirt you can wear—and KEEP!

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project How long do I stay? The conferences generally last a few hours at each high school. Stay as long as you like! If you see the crowd dying down or if you get tired, just gather the remaining material and leave. There is no check-out process. How does it work when I arrive? It’s very simple. Once coordinated with your staff member, you will both arrive at the start of the Parent Teacher Conference night (this varies by school, please see our calendar on the next slide). Wear your OB Tee, lay out our printed material, and check in with the high school to locate the table they have set aside for “Outward Bound.” After you check in, you’re ready to go! Just answer questions from parents and kids who stop by the table!

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project Where do I go? When you volunteer, we will designate a high school to you based on preference or location. For February, we are focusing on schools in Jefferson County, near Denver/Greater Denver. You can link to our Jeffco High School Google map to locate the different high schools: HIGH SCHOOL MAP When do I show up? What days and times? The conferences start in the evening, and vary depending on the high school you chose to work. The conferences we are doing this year land on February 11, 12, 18, and 26. They start roughly around 4:30pm. You can link to our Conference Google Calendar by clicking the address below to verify schools and times: CONFERENCES CALENDAR

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project What should I say about Outward Bound? The staff member you will be working with will help you with any message points you might need about Outward Bound. The most valuable words you can share about Outward Bound will be those regarding your great experience with the program course you attended.

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project Post Conference Please remember to gather all of the remaining OB materials when you leave. Your staff member will return all the leftover materials to us. We would also great appreciate your assessment of the project upon completion, and will you a survey form about your experience at the high school night. This will allow us to understand better the demographics of the high school and determine the value for next time. You are welcome to keep your OB T-shirt!

Outward Bound | 910 Jackson St, Golden CO | OB High School Alumni Project Your contribution to this one, simple service project will have a tremendous impact in helping us reach out personally and powerfully to thousands of prospective Outward Bound students. Your memories of your own unique and valuable experience with Outward Bound can help others experience the same. Can we count on you? And sign up to help! For questions, Rita Bertolli Outward Bound, Golden CO
