What Melts Marshmallows Fastest? An Experiment By Nicolas Stamper!

What I Think Will Melt Marshmallows Fastest What: I think that the Coke Zero will melt faster Why: Because Coke Zero has carbonation

What I Used! Water Milk Coke Zero Apple Cider Vineger Automatic Dishwasher Gel Marshmallows

The Test! I got the supplies I poured each liquid into a bowl I put the marshmallows in each one And I observed them for a week

Day 1 I put the marshmallows in at 6:15 pm on Febraury 27th 2015

Day 2 Some marshmallows starting to break into pieces in the apple cider vineger

Day 3 No change in day 3 Marshmallows are the same No marshmallow has broken or done anything.

Day 4 The water looks like its breaking The apple cider vinager looks like it is disinagrating more than water The coke zero looks like a roasted marshmallow but it is not melting The milk looks the same, no change The Dish soap looks shiny but is not melting.

Day 5 Marshmallow in the water is soft and melting a little bit The marshmallow In the apple cider vinager is melting a lot The coke zero marshmallow is turning brown but not melting at all The marshmallow in the milk is not changing at all (milk is starting to spoil) The dish soap marshmallow is getting sticky and soft but not melting

Day 6 The only one that has changed is the apple cider vinager. It is breaking apart more and getting puffier.

Day 7 The last day of the expirement I took the marshmallows out of their liquids All of them were easy to get out except for the apple cider vinegar Apple cider vinegar marshmallow is falling apart it is mushy and soft

The Results! Coke Zero Dishwashing Soap Milk The coke turned the marshmallow brown It did not melt Dishwashing Soap It was sticky, shiny, and soft It melted the marshmallow a little Milk It was soft The milk spoiled It did not melt at all

The Results! Apple Cider Vinegar Water The marshmallow almost completely melted It turned light brown Water It melted a little bit It did not lose its color It absorbed some water and got soft

THE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WON! Conclusion! THE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WON! Before the experiment I thought the Coke Zero was going to melt the fastest because it has carbonation. I thought the carbonation would break it apart the fastest. But the apple cider vinegar melted the fastest. I think this is because the apple cider vinegar is a acid. Acids melt or make things soft.
