The Good Fight Part 5 Seven Fiery Arrows

I. Review - How to put on the armor: 1. Belt of truth: “Jesus, you are the person of truth”

“Holy Spirit, you are the Spirit of truth.” “The Word of God is the Word of truth.”

2. The breastplate of righteousness: “You have made me righteous and my heart is good.” “Your righteousness will flow through me today in my obedience.”

3. The shoe of peace: “In everything that happens, I will rejoice in you.” “I will not worry for be fearful.” “I commit myself to sharing the Good News and to prayer.”

4. The shield of faith: “God, you are who your say you are.” “God, you can do what you say you can do.”

“I am who you say I am.” “I can do all things through Christ.” “God, you Word is alive and active in me.”

“In addition to all this, (Above all) take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Eph 6:16

II. Seven fiery arrows that are headed my way. “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,

to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit…to another distinguishing between spirits… All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.” 1 Cor 12:7-11

TT he question is not “IF” I am being attacked but rather “where” and “how”.

1. Unclean spirit “Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us?

I know who You are—the Holy One of God!" But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him.” Mark 1:23-26

2. Worldly spirit “We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.” 1 Corinthians 2:12

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2a

3. Spirit of infirmity “On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.

When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” Luke 13:10-13, 16

4. Spirit of jealousy “…if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him and he becomes jealous of his wife, who has defiled herself; or if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him and he becomes jealous of his wife, although she has not defiled herself…” Numbers 5:14

5. Spirit of bitterness and anger “The Spirit then lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness and in the anger of my spirit, with the strong hand of the LORD upon me.” Ezekiel 3:14

6. Spirit of deception “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” 1 Timothy 4:1

7. Spirit of disobedience “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air,

the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.” Ephesians 2:1-2

III. How to extinguish all the flaming arrows “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God:

Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.

This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” 1 John 4:1-3
