Lessons Learned  Fashion is a creative field on all levels.  Southern California is home to many job opportunities for students interested in the action sports industry.  Knowledge of design programs- Illustrator and Photoshop a must! CAD is very important too. There is really no sketching involved.  The ability to collaborate with different teams to see the final product through to the finish.  Multi-tasking is essential.  Analytical- researching current and future trends.

Application in the classroom  Schedule a tour with my students for Summer or Fall of  Arrange for different students to spend time shadowing different departments and hopefully having the opportunity to do some hands-on projects.  Create lesson surrounding color stories on textile designs.  Bring in Valerie Fox as a guest speaker.

Thank you!  A big thank you to Kyla Benson and her colleagues at La Jolla Group.  Thank you to Saddleback Community College and the CTE Collaborative Externships program,  Thank you to Coastline Regional Occupational Program for their dedication to providing a dynamic career-technical-education to high school students and the continued support of my Careers in Fashion program.
