THE STORY ABOUT JAZZ, AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE MARKED ONE EPOCH AND TYPED THEIR NAMES WITH LARGE NOTES INTO THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY AND WORLD MUSIC SCENE To show music with picture... A way to describe Serbia from another point of view... To freeze faces that mean something in time, to keep from oblivion, to educate...

SERBIAN JAZZ BRE PROJECT WAS FORMED IN 2012, WITH THE IDEA OF PUTTING TOGETHER MUSIC AND VISUAL ARTS, AND TO PROMOTE SERBIAN AND BALKAN JAZZ IN A NEW WAY. THE MUSICAL PART OF THE PROJECT GATHERED SIGNIFICANT ARTISTS, FORMING A SPECIFIC ARTISTIC STATEMENT, USING BOTH THE LANGUAGE OF CONTEMPORARY JAZZ AND RICH MUSICAL HERITAGE OF BALKAN. ARTISTIC EXPRESSION OF THE SERBIAN JAZZ BRE PROJECT IS SPECIFIC BY CONFLATING TWO ARTISTIC MEDIA, MUSIC AND VISUAL. INTEGRAL PART OF THE PERFORMANCE IS VIDEO WORK, WHERE THE AUTHOR AND INITIATOR OF THE PROJECT, PHOTOGRAPHER IVAN GRLIĆ TAKES A ROLE OF VIDEO JOCKEY. AFTER NUMEROUS APPEARANCES AT FESTIVALS AND IN CLUBS, THE BAND RELEASED THEIR FIRST CD ‘SERBIAN JAZZ BRE PROJECT’ IN JUNE 2013, MADE MOSTLY OF ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS, COMPOSITIONS OF CELEBRATED SERBIAN JAZZ ARTISTS, AND SERBIAN FOLK SONGS, ARRANGED IN SPECIFIC MUSICAL UNIT, WITH THE IMPACT OF BOTH EAST AND WEST, CLASSICAL MUSIC AND RICH BALKAN FOLKLORE.

IN DECEMBER 2013 SERBIAN JAZZ BRE HAS INTRODUCED A NEW PROJECT ‘A TRIBUTE TO LALA’, DEDICATED TO THE LEGENDARY DRUMMER AND BALKAN JAZZ PIONEER BRANISLAV LALA KOVAČEV. AFTER ONLY A YEAR OF EXISTENCE, SERBIAN JAZZ BRE PROJECT QUICKLY ATTRACTED PUBLIC ATTENTION AND BECAME AN IMPORTANT FACTOR AT THE JAZZ SCENE IN SERBIA AND ABROAD, PERFORMING AT MANY INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS BELGRADE JAZZ FEST BEOGRAD, INDJIJA JAZZ FEST, JAZZIBAR KRALJEVO, DUNAVFEST BEOGRAD, NOVOSADSKI JAZZ FESTIVAL, DAN ZAUVEK FESTIVAL RAŠKA, GITARIJADA ZAJEČAR, LUES 'N' JAZZ RALLYE LUXEMBOURG, JAZZ A LIEGE BELGIJA, LISZT FERENC ZENEAKADEMIA BUDIMPEŠTA, JAZZELSA HVAR HRVATSKA, FESTIVAL FESATIVALA TREBINJE, BOSNA, HERCEGFEST HERCEG NOVI,...)

THE GOAL OF ‘SERBIAN JAZZ BRE PROJECT’ IS, BY COMBINING MUSIC VITH VISUAL ART, TO PROMOTE SERBIAN ART AND CULTURE IN GENERAL, DRAWING ATTENTION TO THE PEOPLE WHO CREATED THE RECENT HISTORY OF MUSIC IN SERBIA, AND ALSO TO PRESENT YOUNG ARTISTS TO WIDER AUDIENCE, WHOSE CREATIVE WORK AFFIRMS SERBIAN CULTURE AND TRADITION, BOTH IN SERBIA AND ABROAD. MULTIMEDIA APPROACH OF THIS PROJECT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO EFFICIENTLY AND ATTRACTIVELY CONVEY THE WORD OF ARTIST TO A WIDER AUDITORIUM, THAT GOES BEYOND MUSIC AND JAZZ AUDIENCE, OFFERING CONTENT THAT IS ALSO INTERESTING TO FINE ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY LOVERS, ETC... REALIZING THESE GOALS REQUIRES SUSTAINED PROJECT PRESENTATION TO AUDIENCE ON AS MANY FESTIVALS AND CULTURAL EVENTS IN SERBIA AND ABROAD.

THE CONCERT THE REPERTOIRE IS MOSTLY MADE OF ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS, COMPOSITIONS OF CELEBRATED SERBIAN JAZZ ARTISTS AND SERBIAN FOLK SONGS. CHARACTERISTIC MELODIC MOTIFS AND RHYTHMS BASED ON SERBIAN AND BALKAN TRADITION, THROUGHOUT COMPOSITION AND IMPROVISATION ARE INCORPORATED IN JAZZ FORM AS BASIS FOR FURTHER EXPLORATION OF UNIVERSAL MUSICAL LANGUAGE. USING IMPROVISATION, WITH MUTUAL INTERACTION, THE BAND MEMBERS TRANSMIT PERSONAL EMOTIONS, THE EXPERIENCE OF THE PRESENT MOMENT AND CREATION ON THE SPOT DIRECTLY TO THE AUDIENCE, IN VIGOROUS AN EXPRESSIVE WAY.

...

As a result of years of work, there have been published two monographs:

Meet the faces that marked music scene in Serbia and are part of our modern history And

And some other people who have also left their mark on the modern history of our country

As a result of years of work have been published first CD Serbian Jazz Bre! And also double CD Balkan Jazz Lala Kovačev

Attention of foreign and local media that this project caused is unusual for this type of event..

ALMOST ALL DOMESTIC ELECTRONIC AND PRINT MEDIA ARE SUPPORTING AND FOLLOWING THIS PROJECT (RTS, TV PRVA, PINK, STUDIO B, B92, BLIC, VREME, GLAS JAVNOSTI, POLITIKA, NOVOSTI, PRESS, 24 SATA, GLORIJA, STORY, NIN, STIL...) AND ALSO MOST OF THE IMPORTANT WEB SITES AND PORTALS...

''SERBIAN JAZZ, BRE!'‘, AS AN MULTIMEDIA PROJECT, IS BECAME REPRESENTATIVE SERBIAN CULTURAL PRODUCT, WHICH IS NOT YET COMMERCIAL AND FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE. AS A REAL NEED TO KEEP CONTINUITY AND GET TO PROGRESSION, IT NEEDS SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE FOR THE CONTINUING LIFE OF THE PROJECT. SUCH CONTINUITY ENABLES PLACEMENT IN JAZZ AND WORLD MUSIC MARKETS, OPENS OPPORTUNITIES FOR FURTHER PERFORMANCES AT FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD, AND FURTHER PROMOTION OF SERBIAN CULTURE AND CONTEMPORARY ART. THIS PROJECT IS AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE OUR REALITY, IN ORDER TO AWAKEN AND INSPIRE DIFFERENT THINKING, OBSERVATIONS OF THE PRESENT MOMENT, AND TO HELP PRESERVE THE TRUE VALUES. WE ARE DETERMINED TO INTRODUCE OURSELVES IN THE BEST WAY TO SERBIAN AND FOREIGN AUDIENCES. IF YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS PROJECT AND TO PARTICIPATE TOGETHER WITH US IN KEEPING AND WRITING THE HISTORY, YOU ARE VERY WELCOME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION With respect, Author of the project Ivan Grlić i Serbian JAZZ BRE! More informations at
