1. Typodont must be fully seated in the jaw mechanism and they are not inter-changeable!!!!

2. Tooth must be fully seated in the typodont!!!!

3. Always make sure the typodont number matches the dentsim unit number!

4. Bur must be fully seated in the handpiece!!!!

5. You must use sharp bur and not apply undue pressure!!!!

6. You must use Kavo teeth that have the FDI nomenclature.

7. You must use Kavo teeth that have the FDI nomenclature. Teeth with these markings are not compatible with the dentsim.

8. You must modify your handpiece grip to expose LEDs so you will not cause a tracking error!!!!

9. You must pull your hair back because it can block the infrared camera and cause a tracking error.

The first tooth that you will prepare in the lab is a lower left first molar. Tooth 36 in the FDI numbering system. The outline of the preparation is shown below. Notice how the preparation is centered on the grooves on the occlusal surface of the tooth.
