{ Processing the Kite II Kite procession into horizontality

{ Body space - image in architecture ; Body space - image in architecture ; joannaleahgeldard How can the horizontal line extend as framework to horizontality and scores the relationship of architecture and the body to redraw spatial practices in edgeland sites? Its intention, to develop horizontality as an approach in the field of drawing and installation practices for edgeland sites.

 Tim Ingold from extending the horizontal line -to edgelands - to making Kites - to produce body-image space:  A geometry informed by tactile and sensuous knowledge of line and surface (of masons and carpenters (Making, 2013;51)  Euclid - geometry a parting of the ground and how might it be understood as part the parting of air as ground and site. (Suderberg,  Paul Klee (Lines, 2007;72) –’ taking a line for a walk’ as active and authentic. The movement of trace, body, kite and air.

 Yve-Alain Bois and Rosalind Kraus ;  Formless and horizontality refer to the quality of horizontality as being a bringing down literally and figuratively rather than a distinct spatial figuration.  It tends towards a shaking up of a unified field and tends towards entropy, an undoing and in the case of this study wearing down of hierarchy of architecture and place.  Kraus asserts subversity in imagery which refers to ground, as site of production.  She refers to Pollock as creating dance diagrams and therefore horizontality has the quality of the choreographic.  Implicit in the code of Kraus’s horizontality is image and spatial practice which is in essence anti –hierarchal. It’s very flatness inciting writing or a re-writing of the body.

Hargrave (left) and Swain demonstrate the Hargrave box kite, November 1894.

Edgelands are rural/urban ribbons. Edgelands are rural/urban ribbons. They offer a horizon and a departure into descriptions of space and place. They offer a horizon and a departure into descriptions of space and place. Mary Rawlinson (1999) identifies in Husserl’s thinking how horizons are prescribed for further possible experience thus the setting is the horizon of our edgelands. Mary Rawlinson (1999) identifies in Husserl’s thinking how horizons are prescribed for further possible experience thus the setting is the horizon of our edgelands.

 Nick Kaye underscores the argument for site as a performed place  secondly the art activity that unfolds in relationship to artistic practice, social and spatial organization.  The experience of standing on the edge as a site of imagination and possibility  The unrealised project, the virtual reality…Bergson and Deleuze Body Architectural Space Perception of Horizontal Line Drawing the Virtual & Real Potential

 The important role of the body on the threshold and the liminal body thought-image (essentially thought and concept as fragmented writing developed into thought body –image by Sigrid Weigal)  body presents image/space becoming image idea which offers fresh frameworks to reflecting in spaces.  unfolds and underscores the dwelling of the democratic body. Body Space-Image

 Making box kites and developing both improvised and choreographed activity  To each will be attached a small film camera to capture the movement from the kites.  These will hopefully reveal glimpses of the bodies which twitch the kites, the interaction of air and mover including kite as self reflexive object in the capture of its own and other kites movements.  This will hopefully demonstrate the act of drawing, making, diagrammatising and crafting as simultaneous matrix.

The kite project intends to explore: the movement dynamic as moving space air diagram as a extension to the geometric sense of space (Peg Rawes;2008) Air, Kite, Mover as dance of agency and animacy (Ingold;2013) The body in space and as site As architectural development to edgeland sites in temporal capacity Develop the notion of the virtual installation and memory for activating edgeland sites Extend horizon line to horizontal plane and horizontality to re-draw representation of body-space in relation to horizon line.

Deleuze expresses Space as multiplicities that bears the hallmarks of externality, simultaneity, contiguity, juxtaposition and differences of degree. It is divisible and its substances calculable as matter. Therefore a new effort of our imagination can decompose, deconstruct and provide mental diagrams of infinite divisibility. (Bergson;1988)

But space can be produced through matter, movement and therefore it is motion that deposits space. By inverting, transforming the movement so edgeland spaces can move from static and undervalued to continuing, emerging becoming and unfolding through specific events and spaces/sites.
