Commercial Vetting Inspection Vetting Inspection Feedback Forms Based on comments and cooperation with our membership, The INTERTANKO Vetting Committee developed a Standard Inspection Feedback form several years ago. The purpose of this form is to supply confidential information that can be used in a constructive & statistical manner to assist in our ongoing discussions with Port State Control, Oil Major Vetting Departments, and establishments such as CDI and SIRE. Part 1 of the questionnaire relates to Commercial Vetting Inspections, (Part 2 relates to Port State Control inspections & forms a separate presentation). We encourage INTERTANKO members to supply their vessels with a copy of this form with the request that the forms be completed for each inspection as appropriate. We also request that these forms be completed on each occasion that a commercial or PSC inspection takes place whether the results are positive or negative.

A Pertinent Comment to bear in Mind “It is accepted that interested parties wish to assure their corporate reputations and they have a right to expect their contractor to use their best endeavors to attain that level of service…but …the standard of observations needs to be maintained”.
Additional Feedback to Consider Ask the Question not what you think the Question is. Utilise your experience, keep observations factual explanatory and not interpretations.
Additional Feedback to Consider “Yes” or “No” Answers by Inspectors: As stand alone answers these can cause difficulties for the owner/operator if these are without suitable qualification.
Additional Feedback to Consider The Benefits of the Close out Meeting: - The inclusion of additional comments after the inspection; the number of observations/comments do tend to increase once the final report comes out, this; Lowers morale onboard Defeats the object of the close out meeting; Increases the possibilities of misunderstandings; Diminishes respect from those onboard
Additional Feedback to Consider The use of Cameras onboard Tankers! How do you use Yours?
