WINE: IDEAS FOR FUTURE EUROPEAN COOPERATION PROJECTS Two opportunities for future joint European projects: 1. Grundtvig 1 and 4 dtvig/home_en.html Deadline: 1 November eContentplus Duration:

GRUNDTVIG - ADULT EDUCATION AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS Centralised Actions (GRUNDTVIG 1 and 4) Priority will be given to projects and networks which have the potential:  to generate innovation  to disseminate innovation and good practice between different parts of Europe  whether or not this good practice has been developed by Socrates/Grundtvig projects GRUNDTVIG

GRUNDTVIG 1 In 2004, two distinct types of project have been supported: (1) Grundtvig Training Courses for Adult Education Staff Aimed to improve the availability and quality of European training courses available to teachers, managers or other adult education staff. (2) General projects Aimed to to enhance the quality and/or European dimension of adult education by other means than training courses for adult education staff. GRUNDTVIG 1

GRUNDTVIG TRAINING COURSES FOR ADULT EDUCATION STAFF This new type of project will have a maximum duration of two years, consisting of three phases: (1) developing/updating the course (normally during Year 1) (2) testing the course with participants from the countries participating in the project itself (first half of Year 2), if possible in different countries and using various languages (3) organising the course on at least two occasions as an offering to Grundtvig 3 applicants Europe-wide (second half of Year 2) GRUNDTVIG 1

COURSES’ MAIN FEATURES Travel and subsistence costs for the participants will be covered by Grundtvig 3 grants The courses are delivered by teams of trainers from at least three countries participating in Socrates and are open to participants from all ‘Socrates countries’ The courses may address any aspect or theme of adult education, whether formal, non-formal or informal. They may be completely new courses or be based on existing courses, which are now to be given an additional European dimension The courses will generally comprise at least ‘teaching hours’, plus a day for observation visits to adult education institutions in the region where the course is held GRUNDTVIG 1

GRUNDTVIG 4: NETWORKS AND SEMINARS In 2004, two distinct types of grants have been awarded: (1) Grundtvig Network grants A small number of networks have been supported, each of which: involving at least 10 countries participating in Socrates being active in forging co-operation between Grundtvig projects in the thematic area concerned playing a pivotal role in the process of innovation and good practice more generally in the thematic field concerned (2) Grundtvig Thematic Seminars One-year grants of a maximum of EUR will be available to help create Grundtvig 4 networks in thematic areas where such a network does not currently exist GRUNDTVIG 4

WHY GRUNDTVIG 1? It would give us the opportunity to implement and strengthen the European dimension of training activities, which is a strong interest of many WINE partners It matches one of WINE’s activity areas within the Athena II application (Activity 3) In the future, it can easily lead to to the implementation and follow-up within the Grundtvig 4 project (European networks) It could be the starting point of another WINE’s old project: The European Database of Expert in the Field of Information and Documentation It is a rather simple application which focuses on a highly defined target GRUNDTVIG 1
