2 Background New developments in RCS and READ: –RCS: EPA Registry Reusable Component Services –READ: EPA Registry of EPA Applications, Models and Datasets EPA Geodata Gateway –Use the GDG to search for, discover, view, and access EPA's geospatial resources. If you are an EPA employee or contractor, please login at the top of the page to see all GDG metadata records. Download Data and Reuse Components. –Innovate staff were the primary architects, managers, and facilitators behind the implementation of the United State Environmental Protection Agencies (US EPA) enterprise geospatial portal, called the EPA GeoData Gateway. The GDG leverages web services to provide efficient agency wide geospatial data discovery and retrieval capabilities. Innovate staff also led the integration of the GeoData Gateway into the EPA’s Enterprise Oracle Portal. The goal of this integration effort was to provide seamless access to Agency resources across enterprise systems, leveraging EPA’s central Identity and Access Management (I&AM) System based on Oracle’s COREid. Innovate defined use cases and requirements, managed implementation, performed testing, and facilitated review of results with stakeholders.

7 Information As Product Many people, including IT staff, do not know the difference between data and information. Is your organization stuck in a vicious cycle of producing more and more redundant, poor- quality, stove-piped data while your information consumers scream for more and more of the "right" information? Over five years in the making, this book stops the cycle of haphazard data generation and turns it into reliable, consumer-centric information production. It does this by turning to time-tested manufacturing principles of the automotive, electronics and construction industries. This book walks readers through the "4C's" of producing consumer-centric information products. It carefully dissects the slogan "Deliver the right information, to the right person, at the right time" and demonstrates a rigorous methodology for moving beyond the slogan to a sustainable and repeatable process! Written by a proven expert in the field and the former Metadata Program Manager for the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Daconta, this book delivers for managers, architects and developers. It is a must-read for every manager seeking to empower their employees with relevant, timely and authoritative information!
