Introduction A framework of the Software Requirements for Crop management based on SRS Conducted by Different NIC Officials is presented. Production capacity, Production efficiency and crop protection are major pillars supporting national crop productivity. A high priority is the development and subsequent transfer of efficient crop technologies and sustainable cropping systems to farmers. Overall challenges are to increase substantially the knowledge base of, and sustainable technology for crop production and cropping systems, to improve the delivery of technologies generated; and to promote the use of these systems. Crop management involves Pre-harvest management as well as Post-harvest management, Marketing, Trade and other aspects.

Crop Management System Challenges: Rapid Growth in Crop Production & Productivity on Sustained basis Balanced Crop Diversification & Regional Development Management of Resources (Land, Soil, Bio-Water, Human, Institutional, Financial, Infrastructure etc.) Timely Availability of Inputs (Seed, Chemical Fertilizer, Bio-fertilizer, Chemical Pesticides, Bio-pesticides, Bio-control agents, Machinery & Implements, Credit) Extension (Transfer of Technology) Plant Protection (Plant Quarantine, Integrated Pest Management, Locust Control) Risk Management ( Draught, Crop Insurance) Competitive Advantages and Guaranty of Minimum Returns to Farmers (Marketing, Trade, Minimum Support Price) Eco-friendly & Conservation of Energy Organizational Efficiency and Employee Productivity

l Accurate Identification and Assessment of Development Needs l Better Planning, Implementation and Monitoring of Central Crop Development Programs/ Plan Schemes l Effective Advisory Service to States in Formulation and Implementation of Projects l Effective linkage with Central & State Governments, Research Institutions, Implementing Agencies, Financial Institutions, National and International Organizations l Effective Transfer of Technology and Dissemination of Information l Improve Organizational Productivity l More Transparency & Participatory Approach l Effective Collaboration of Stakeholders in Decision- Making Process and Sharing of Resources l Awareness about Environment Protection & Energy Conservation How to meet the Challenges
