Parameters for Link Hints Draft-bertin-hints-params-00.txt Philippe Bertin (France Telecom R&D) Nicolas Montavont (LSIIT – ULP) Thomas Noel (LSIIT – ULP) IETF 58 - Minneapolis

Goal Define information to be transported in Link Hints Information should: –Help in choosing the next point of attachment –Help to faster discover network related parameters –Be applicable to various L2 technologies –Further assist enhanced mobility schemes in both MN and Networks

Set of parameters AR sets – MN sets For each set: –Static parameters –Configuration parameters –Link status parameters Interface status Information on neighbors

Static Parameters Interface type list Interface type option Hardware identifier

Configuration Parameters Current interface type Default network identifier Security level Fragmentation threshold Data rate Maximum transmission power

Link Status Parameters (interface status) ID: Current network ID - Current attachment ID Link quality: –Current data rate –Measured badwidth –Bit/packet error rate –Current radio link quality / noise level –Interface load Power-related: Power mode - Current transmit power Interface status: ON or OFF L2 handover status: L2 hdv in progress – no L2 hdv

Link Status Parameters (Information on neighbors) Available network ID Available attachment ID Advertisement frequency Network configured data rate Available radio link quality

Specific AR set Beacon period Number of attached node Attached MN status Network identifiers Max packet retransmission Access router with wireless interfaceSeveral APs linked to an AR
