I. Protocol adoptions for interoperability II. Survey of potential federal data providers and a GCOOS data nodes self- assessment. III. Promoting Regional IT communications DMAC Action Plan 2008 Developed during Committees Meeting in New Orleans November 2007 Contains three focus areas -

I. Protocols for Interoperable Systems 1. Adopt Common Dictionary for Region 2. Adopt Data Access and Transport Method(s) 3. Select Metadata Content Standards 4. Adopt QA/QC methodologies 5. Establish/promote data discovery (catalogs)

II.Entrain new Providers & Self-Assessment Incorporate Federal Providers into Portal Many providers identified (NOAA, USACE, NWS, NPS...) Task 6. Surveys (by DMAC members September 2008) Self-assessment of Regional Provider’s data system architectures and IT skill sets.
