Review on sustainable rural tourism development in Latvia inventory of the current situation and negative impacts recommendations for actions to prevent / reduce the negative environmental, economic and social aspects at all stakeholder levels presented at the national RT conference on February 3, 2006 (400 participants) konferences

Sustainability criteria in RT quality system 1-4 category  Locally produced food products offered to tourists  Waste disposed according to the local administrative regulations (contract with a waste management company) 2-4 category  Disposable tableware and other single use items not used  Co-operation with local providers/services 3-4 category  Provide guests with appropriate information about e.g. local nature, organic farming and local culture  Continuous attention to environmental impact of the establishment, improvement of environment and nature protection measures
