Weather Forecasting Grade Five Science

What does forecast mean? The term forecast means to predict the future. Weather forecasters try and predict the weather in the future; either the next day, next couple of days or a week. Predicting is an educated guess.

How do they do it? They look at satellite images of the Earth They look for high and low pressure systems. They use infrared cameras to see storms. They watch the jet stream( large wind) to see which way the air currents are flowing

How do they do it? They take in a whole bunch of information and then predict what they think the temperature will be. They also forecast if it is rainy, cloudy or sunny. They are right sometimes, but they are often wrong. It is very difficult to accurately predict the weather.
