eHealth Unit FP6 - 1st IST Call for Proposals 28/1/2003 HealthGRID in the eHealth unit Application of the existing GRID technology from other areas to Health for both computing intensive applications and knowledge discovery. Vision: person centered Healthcare. Examples: to connect databases of heterogeneous content (biology and medicine) enabling new knowledge discovery (research, drug design), better guidance and information (healthcare professionals). to increase computing power for imaging, simulation and modelling thus allowing these fields to take into account more data and therefore to provide more accurate results. Networking of groups involved in the development of new middleware and new applications in order to enhance interoperability of systems and the existence of a European Research Area.
