Experience and Background I graduated from Edinburgh University with BSc Biological Sciences with Honours in Ecology in I then spent 6 (gruelling!) months in Dominica in the West Indies, as a teaching and research assistant in Marine Ecology and Natural Resource Management. Having completed 2 months summer experience within the Ecology department prior to graduation, I was welcomed back to Atkins in a full time position in February Personal Interests Sustainable development and production, as well as carbon critical design on a global scale interest me very much. I believe policy and regulation should be refocused to encourage socio-environmental responsibility as drivers for development and not merely end- of-pipe damage limitation mechanisms. Outside the office I enjoy live music, both playing and listening, travelling to see new places and experience new culture, horse-riding and most outdoors activities, including cycling to work, socialising, watching rugby and gardening. Fiona Wilson UK Present Occupation I work for Atkins Ltd, a large international engineering consultancy, in their Ecology Natural Resources team in the Water and Environment Department. Our team looks at the ecological impact of various development projects, mostly utility asset maintenance, but also major project management roles such as for the Olympic development for A section of our team also has a lead role in international Environmental Management and Assessment projects associated with major tourism and oil developments, for example in Dubai on the Burj-al-Arab and Durrat projects. I am an Ecologist and currently conduct Phase 1 habitat surveys, specialised protected species surveys and am managing the ecological mitigation and managment in the implementation phase of a major sewerage system installation. I am also involved in other water framework projects in co-ordinating and reporting roles for input to EIA.
