The Three Belief Systems of China Buddha Laozi Confucius

Taoism (Daoism) Laozi, Laotse, Laotsu, Laotzu, Old Master

Daoism A. Started by Laozi from 606 B.C. to 530 B.C.

I must think positively! B. It was a way of looking at life and a way of thinking about things; if you look at your life and think about the things in the right way then you’ll be much happier. I must think positively!

C. Emphasize living in harmony with nature and being content with one’s life - basically living a simple life.

“To discover how nature acts, sit by a river, feel the breeze, and observe the drifting clouds. Notice that nothing in nature is striving for fame, knowledge, or power. The river, the breeze, and the clouds move without any effort because they follow the “Dao”, the way of nature that guides all things.”

D. The goal of life is to achieve oneness with the “Dao”, a universal force connected to nature that cannot be define only experienced and felt. I have felt the “Dao”! Where is the “Dao”?

E. Harmony comes from. balancing the. opposite forces of E. Harmony comes from balancing the opposite forces of nature called the “yin” and “yang”.

F. yin = female, dark, cold, etc… G. yang = male, sky, light, heat, etc…

Equalibrium: 1) a state of intellectual or emotional balance 2) a state of balance between opposing forces or actions

H. Daoists do not believe. in strong government. for peace in society, H. Daoists do not believe in strong government for peace in society, rather be one with nature with a balanced life.
