10 tips towards safe® corporate blogging

Before stepping into the blogosphere 1. Do your homework Learn how blogs work Learn who the key bloggers are Learn about what makes them tick… And what makes them sick

Before stepping into the blogosphere 2. Stop and think Do I have to be there? Do I have what to tell the blogosphere? Do I have time to do it properly? Do I have the guts to take the feedback in?

When commenting on blogs 3. Lose the “management” slang In the blogosphere, formality is reprimanded Hierarchies do not count Talking like a manager or a PR person makes you look ridiculous 4. Be yourself, while remembering who you are 5. Remember that your answers give credit to the blogs

When building your own blog 6. Consult your PR people, but do it yourself 7. Bear in mind anyone can read the Internet at any time – you’d better be consistent! 8. While you can control the content of your blog, you cannot control the content of other blogs that link to it

When networking with other bloggers 9. Remember that many bloggers are journalists as well 10. Remember that people whom you meet in the real world can be bloggers 11. Blogging cannot replace official communication, but needs to be remembered as a complement to any comms strategy

Influencing bloggers Is a blade that cuts both ways Balance audience with content Prepare to be rejected Look for bloggers with a degree of affinity towards your products/ industry Don’t try to impose your opinions, let them experience for themselves Be aware that you can not control the results, and you can never silence the negatives

Thank you!
