More Facts About Don Bosco The Salesians of Don Bosco (or the Salesian Society, originally known as the Society of St. Francis de Sales) is a Roman Catholic religious order founded in the late nineteenth century by Saint John Bosco in an attempt, through works of charity, to care for the young and poor children of the industrial revolution. The Salesians' charter describes the society's mission as "the Christian perfection of its associates obtained by the exercise of spiritual and corporal works of charity towards the young, especially the poor, and the education of boys to the priesthood". The order is named for St. Francis de Sales, an early-modern bishop of Geneva.

Little John understood that to do good for so many boys he needed to study and become a priest. But his brother Anthony, already 18 and uneducated, did not want to hear of this... He threw away John's books and belted him. In February 1827, John left home and went to look for work as a farm-servant. He was only 12. For three years he laboured and during evenings he read his books and studied. Anthony married three years later and John returned home and resumed his schooling. To provide for his needs he learnt different trades: tailor, blacksmith, barman, and he even coached students after classes.

Facts About Don Bosco St. John Bosco was an Italian priest, who lived at the beginning of the industrial revolution in Turin (Italy). He dedicated his whole life to the youngsters who came to Turin in search of work and a better life than the rural one of those days. He was moved by the manner in which these boys soon became uprooted, liable to be exploited, or simply lost hope. Therefore he founded a institution in the Valdocco quarter to help improve their condition. Together with collaborators, whom he chose progressively from amongst the boys he helped, Don Bosco lived a very original educational experience, based on confidence, reciprocal kindness which he qualified as "preventive".

Why Would Don Bosco Support South Africa Don Bosco would support south Africa because South Africa is a poor country with orphan boys that need his help to be happy. Also he has visited Southen Africa when he was nine years old and his dream was to look after children who want his help
