Notifiable conditions and the veterinarian Purpose –Integrate veterinarians into the public health system. –Enhance surveillance for zoonotic diseases, which indirectly enhances human surveillance – Enhance recognition and capacity to investigate emerging pathogens in animal reservoirs –Detect agents used intentionally in biowarfare.
