Futur Proche The futur proche or the near future is a verb tense in French that describes what someone is going to do. Hence a future tense. The futur proche is very easy to form. You only need the present tense of the verb « aller » and an infinitive.

Futur Proche Aller + infinitive Je vais manger – I am going to eat. Nous allons jouer au foot. - We are going to play soccer. Marc va diner chez sa copine. – Marc is going to eat at his friends house.

Futur Proche Négation Je ne vais pas étudier pour l’examen. When you want to make a sentence negative that is in the futur proche, you need to put the ne and pas around the conjugated verb. Je ne vais pas étudier pour l’examen. Nous n’allons pas jouer au tennis.
