CGI Communications Services, Inc. 3 Executive Summary Technological innovations lead to applications development for enhancement of human life and its value, which largely remained limited to certain areas of the world creating Digital Divide. Rapid development of telecommunication technology has given the opportunity for access to development system, irrespective of geographic distance, again such remained confined to urban population of many nations, creating Digital Access Divide (DãD). The Rural Organ for Access to Development (The ROAD Project) is an initiative, to allow access to development tools for rural population in less developed areas of developing nations.

CGI Communications Services, Inc. 21 Executive Summary - Continued The first program under the ROAD project is an Integrated Mobile Medical & Telemedicine/Telehealth Research Centers, a healthcare delivery and management vehicle for the developing countries. The Mobile Medical Center which is built on a large van or trailer, epitomizes the Millennium initiative to bring healthcare technology closer to the beneficiaries in the rural population. The aim has been to bring advancements in modern medical sciences at the doorstep of the common man, who otherwise would have been neglected of its benefits.

CGI Communications Services, Inc. 22 Executive Summary (continued) These private sector programs will empower development schemes of government and non- government machineries, to create a viable, visible and sustainable access mechanism, for continued development of rural population, as newer technologies evolve. This health care model will make it possible to provide state of the art comprehensive health care to the needy and poor people at their doorstep in remote areas of Latin American Countries practically at no cost to the recipients, since relatives abroad will underwrite the cost of services for the relatives at home.
