Presentation transcript:

Planet of Words and Art project will reflect your understanding of the Earth’s biomes, the interconnectedness of all things in nature, and the importance of biodiversity. It will be a six week project that will count as a summative grade. It will be due on Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14th, You will have a few days to work on this in class, but for the most part, it is to be done at home. Don’t wait until Sunday night (February 13th) to do this project!

Choose one of the planet’s biomes, which we are going to visit in the next six weeks. It should be a biome that you are personally interested in, or have some passion about, to help make the project more meaningful to you. Do ONE of the following: Write and illustrate a poem about this biome, representing and reflecting your understanding of the biome, and the importance of preserving that biome, and the biodiversity there. Design a piece of artwork (painting, sketch, sculpture, pastels…) which represents and reflects your understanding of the biome, and the importance of preserving that biome, and the biodiversity there. Write and illustrate a fable (story with a moral), reflecting your understanding of the biome, and the importance of preserving that biome, and the biodiversity there.

The Biomes we’ll be visiting are: Polar Ice Caps Tundra Taiga-Coniferous Forest-Boreal Forest Temperate Deciduous Forest Temperate Grassland Prairie Steppe Tropical Grassland Savanna Cerrado Pampas Llanos Chaparral Desert Hot Cold Tropical Rainforest Tropical Deciduous Forest Tropical Scrub Forest Mountain Alpine Marine Freshwater These projects will be assessed by art teachers, English teachers, and me!
