Workshop Summary I think it was an excellent and inspiring meeting (do I have to say that?) I hoped to have a kind of kick-off effect like at the LREC.

Workshop Summary I think it was an excellent and inspiring meeting (do I have to say that?) I hoped to have a kind of kick-off effect like at the LREC meeting 2000 in Athens where the first phase (metadata, annotation structures) started We are at the step to a new phase: federation of our collections and it seems that we all want that. didn’t we know this already: we are not the only folks who are moving towards federated collections so let’s continue to look to what others are doing (SRB, DCC, …) there are solutions around – so let’s carefully look at them at the workshop: different approaches – from WS to SRB (according to Egon everything is ready – should make a deal with him) mutual fertilization with IASA/DL is excellent – in the long run the division of labor is not yet clear; are kind of in between “archives and DL”

Discovered some things to do: common ground for ethics – need a document / need a small group/ GARY common legal ground – need a memorandum / need a small group/ HEIDI common access mechanism – need a doc / need a small group/ PETER (one user domain – single sign on - policy) need a doc with improved user scenarios / abstract model –architecture /ELAR DELAMAN constitution etc / LINDA END OF MARCH need to know about extra work when merging – admin/org load need to practice – see DAM-LR as a test bed need an interaction beyond DAM-LR – look for funds to get together need to form working groups about certain aspects PKI – infrastructure - certification – trusted hosts authentication/authorization – what are our requirements “federation approach” how to do it – different approaches start with web-services from scratch work with components get SRB running and adapt DELAMAN Search & Browse -> Functionality

Workshop Summary how to do it: have to speak with our institutions have to look at manuals have to speak with users have to speak with developers different degree of complexity AAI (AS, Shibboleth, …) – Handle GRID Components – SRB need funds (travel, training, …) things have to settle – let’s not forget the price card

Workshop Summary let’s go We have a first task to do Thanks to all
