SNT – UID Evolution ’94-’00 AIT DEMONSTRATION/VALIDATION 2001 SNT: PARTNERSHIP W/ NAVSUP (per AMSR) 2002 OSD INITIATES UID PROGRAMS 2003 UID: OSD POLICY ISSUED 2004 JACG TASKINGS: T700 ENGINE RFID: ENGINE CONTAINERS 1994 thru 2000: ---- Automated Information Technology (AIR) demonstrated/validated through NAVAIR’s Serial Number Tracking (SNT) Program November 2000. 2001: ---- Partnership created with NAVSUP as SNT lead for US Navy; NAVSUP funding NAVAIR SNT recurring effort through FY06. 2002: ---- OSD develops UID initial policy to: valuate all DOD inventory for auditing purposes; prevent use of counterfeit parts; provide total asset visibility. 2003: ---- Secretary Wynne issues policy memorandum to all services on 29 July 2003 requiring unique identification (UID) on all assets $5K or more, including flight critical items and those already serialized. Joint Aeronautical Commander’s Group (JACG) established; NAVAIR AIR-3.1.5, Mike Breckon assigned as co-lead with OSD reps. CMB’s meet intent of UID 2004: ---- Update to policy memo issued 3 September 2004 establishing deadlines and assigning responsibilities. ---- JACG establishes UID Working Group under ALB…NAVAIR 3.1 has lead ---- JACG principles initiate joint Navy, Air Force and Army T700 engine UID project; AIR-3.1.5 and Army T700 PM colead ---- NAVAIR AIR-3.1.5 working with AIR-3.1.4, PMB, NAVICP and NAVSUP to establish engine container RFID program ---- AIR-3.1.5 submits issue sheet requesting UID program be established as a Virtual SYSCOM effort under Logistics Support Authority (LSA); request is granted. NAVAIR 3.0 designated lead, DASN L sponsor 2005: ---- Secretary Wynne tasks OSD UID PMs to provide budget guidance to all SYSCOMs. 2007: ---- All serial numbers, both physical and virtual, required to be entered into registry. Virtual serial numbers are those that are assigned to assets but not yet marked because they have not been inducted into maintenance cycle. 2010: ---- All assets, both new acquisition items and legacy items, required to be uniquely identified and registered in the DOD inventory. DoN VIRTUAL SYSCOM LEAD 2005 OSD TO ISSUE BUDGET GUIDANCE 2007 ALL SERIAL #’s ENTERED IN REGISTRY 2010 ALL ASSETS IN DOD INVENTORY UID’d
