/13 Overview  A management perspective I’m not so technical, so I asked my PhD students and Research Assistants what I should say at the TENcompetence workshop.  Some issues around SOAs for CVTLEs We have completed a SOA VRE. This is what my PhD students and Research Assistants seem to be worried about. Questions. No answers…  Tell me where I’ve got it wrong I may not have understood what my PhD students and Research Assistants said, and your feedback will certainly help me when I report back.

/13 Glossary (TLAs and FaFLAs)  VRE Virtual research environment  VOEU Virtual orthopaedic European university project EU-funded project ‘Normal monolithic’ application  CORE Collaborative orthopaedic research environment project JISC funded, SOA  SOA Service-oriented architecture  CVTLE Collaborative virtual teaching and learning environment  R2Q2 Render and response services for QTI v2 JISC funded Excuse me, what is a “FaFLA”?

/13 CORE VRE architecture So what happens with a CVTLE?

/13 VRE to CVTLE:‘User data’ issue What’s the best way to access the user data?

/13 VRE to CVTLE:Workflow rename “Teaching and learning” control? OK, it is just a name…

/13 VRE to CVTLE:Added services That will have to be quite a clever repository… That is very straightforward, right?

/13 Orchestration issue 1CVTLE It can’t work that way!

/13 CVTLE Orchestration solution 1? That’s better. But what about the QTI?

/13 R2Q2 QTI renderer issue 2 QTI XML Rendered XHTML Answer XML Feedback XHTML State must be remembered somewhere somehow…

/13 CVTLE: Orchestration solution 1+2? “Teaching and learning” control? It’s got serious work to do. And…

/13 CVTLE: Orchestration solution 1+2? Looks like we need a whole bunch of “Vogten adaptors”

Thank you Questions, comments, discussion…
