(a)the mains live wire is brown 1(d)…and give the unit. power in Watts(W) / kiloWatts(kW) 2(a)work done=force applied x distance moved just use the equation; note that force is applied along the slope, not straight up 4 marks

The whole question tests basic revision. (a)simple atomic structure (b)an atom is neutral because number of protons=number of electrons (c)isotopes have variable number of neutrons (d)an ion has gained or lost electron(s) 5 marks

(a)on a velocity/time graph, the distance travelled is equal to the area under the line 6(a)(i)basic revision:circuit symbols ammeters in series and voltmeters in parallel with the component being tested 6(a)(ii)AC means current reverses direction 6(b)(i)rearrange before use: R=V/I 6(b)(iii)stretched so must be elastic strain energy 8 marks

(a)rearrange before use: a=F/m Use resultant force in equation 3 marks

 These are not all the marks available, but nobody doing Higher tier should have missed many of these twenty.  Some marks were gained by recall, some by knowing what to do in the exam.  Now total the marks that you missed – how would they have boosted your grade?
