Summary o Staffing o Review the objectives o Data management conceptual approach o AOOS Capabilities (existing and emerging) o NCEAS Collaboration o ADF&G Partnership

Staffing o Rob Bochenek (project lead) o Will Koeppen (physical oceanography, remote sensing specialist) o Shane StClair (biological sampling, software engineering) o Ross Martin (workspace administration and software engineering) o Lance Finfrock (software/systems engineering) o Brian Stone (outreach and project portals)

Objectives o Provide data management oversight and services for EVOS LTM project team data centric activities which include data structure optimization, metadata generation, and transfer of data between project teams. (AOOS ocean workspace, staff review) o Consolidate, standardize and provide access to study area data sets that are critical for retrospective analysis, synthesis and model development. (Data salvage) o Develop tools for user groups to access, analyze and visualize information produced or processed by the LTM effort. (Web based data access portals) o Integrate all data, metadata and information products produced from this effort into the AOOS data management system for long term storage and public use. (AOOS mission)

D Conceptual Approach: Data Knowledge Pyramid

AOOS Capabilities – Regional Data Assembly Center o Real time and historic sensors & observational platforms ( o Model and remotely sensed gridded data ( o GIS data sets vectors and rasters ( o Project level data sets (

Workspace Evolution o Feb 1, 2012 o ISO core metadata profile o Groups and permissions o Develop more functionality/differentiation on collections o Into the future…. o Develop file level metadata attributes (NCEAS) o Visualization o On the fly connections to other data resources which may be relevant to

NCEAS Collaboration o NCEAS brings deep complimentary experience o Project level data o Synthesis o Cyber Infrastructure o Details of collaboration are being worked out

ADF&G/AOOS Partnership o Axiom strong working relationship with ADF&G (brought to the table for the AOOS project) o 2-3 Year partnership to foster cross organization data sharing o Currently in scoping phase o Leverage potential
