2  Beach at Home : Cosmetic used in skin tone applications (natural product) – launched 1998  Zebra Fish for Medical Device Toxicology Screening Translation to commercial through Microtest  Biofilm Reduction in Pharma Water System Bio-1067 is a quorum sensing disrupter that reduces “persister organisms” by inactivating quorum sensing molecules (acyl- HSL) homoserine lactone. –Translation to commercial: Manufacture and distribution of Biofilm treatment products Biofilm organisms communicate instability in the colony, an epigenetic gene pathway is activated that induces persister organisms. Biofilm destruction is difficult with quorum sensing conserved. Bio One Sciences Projects

 Scope: Biofilm produced by planktonic organisms are fouling biopharm/pharma water systems causing millions of dollars of cleaning and down time  Current Problem: Manufacturer’s use enzyme cleaning, bleach, NaOH and other chemicals to treat biofilm. Manufacturing down time equates to 100 of millions in lost revenue per year.  Solutions: Investigate compounds that will deregulate the persister pathway. Therefore, allowing the chemical treatment to destroy the biofilm.  Bio One Compound BIO-1017 is designed to disrupt quorum sensing molecules required to induce persister organism state. 3
