Overview of New MD Curriculum Year 1 Foundations of Medicine Year 2 Application of Medical Sciences Foundations of Medicine NBME Part I Year 3 We were able to agree on the basic tenets of our curriculum in time to consider what that curriculum would look like and furthermore were able to name the four phases of the new curriculum. We shortened the first two years of medical school by reducing some content, specifically reducing unneeded repetition, and combining the teaching of the normal and the abnormal. Furthermore, we moved the research experience later in the curriculum. Throughout this new curriculum we are avoiding making distinctions between basic and clinical sciences, and instead are striving to integrate the two throughout each and every phase.
