Advantages  Keeps teachers and parents connected  Blogging can keep you informed of different types of information  Help develop strong relationships

Disadvantages  Most people don’t have much to say or can’t express themselves in a clear manner.  Time consuming  A lot of times they are easy to start and hard to maintain.

AUP/Safety  At School  Teachers can make up a blogging contract.  Teachers can delay blogs that are being posted.  At Home  Need to have rules for your children set up.  Never offer personal information  Never post provocative pictures  Avoid trying to outpost other bloggers.  Save the website were you children blog so you can go and check it.  Screen what your kids are going to post before they post it.

Examples  Teachers can blog with other teachers.  Students can blog with teachers and other students.  Parents can blog with teachers.  A school can have blogs for each classroom.

Reflective Statement on Assignment  It was very interesting to me to find out about blogging. I always just thought that you had to go to someone else’s website to blog. After doing this I found out that there were quite a few different places to go and make up your own site. I do feel that this could help if you needed someone to talk. I feel like the students and children could learn from each others blogs but must take extra caution when doing so.

Lessons Learned  Blogging is a very useful tool to keep you connected.  Not only can you just write a blog but there are such websites as Smilebox that allows you to make up scrapbooks and slide shows to post on your blog.  There is a site called Spellery were you can type a word and make sure it is spelled correctly. This is very important to me because I ‘m a bad speller.
