The i9 Processor From INTEL By: Chad Sheppard

Little info about the new chip Coming from a great line of processors Intel Pentium 1, 2, 3, M, 4, 4HT Xeon, Xeon D Celeron (not really all that good) Dual Core Core Duo, 2 Duo, Quad Core i’s, i3, i5, i7, and now the i9 Extremes and Atoms

 6 core  Runs at 2.8Ghz  50 percent faster than i7 at the same clocked speed (however, Intel recommends that you over clock it up to 20 percent)  Better 3D modeling and any program that uses multi core processors  Macs are now integrating Intel onto their platform.  However it consumes 30 percent more power than the i7  Will need a p55 motherboard with a LGA-1156 socket

 Improve video editing and 3d modeling  Overall, it runs faster than older ones  They work on the up and down or (HT) of a process  They can be over clocked (depending on motherboard)  They work as one ◦ Core 2 duo = two processors in one ◦ Core 2 quad = four processors in one

Impact on society  Unless your profession requires multi processors you wont really see a difference from the i7  It will improve response time in those apps/programs.  Gamers will enjoy the faster reaction time if they have the right gear (i.e. 10 k hdd, nvidia 9800 GT bridged, 6 GB 1033 mhz memory)  I don’t really think the average user or N users will ever need it or use the full potential.  I think that it will cut cost on mainframes and servers because you will not need to put 2 processors in it, it will run cooler which is better when it comes to computers.  Only would use the full potential if ran a x64 bit OS

 If I where to get it I would run it in a server  Not very cost affective (cost is over $1000)  It would improve the amount of data that can transferred from my server to a remote machine and help reduce the download\transfer time.  Reduce the amount of power the machine would consume which would save me money  Personal thought: technology is not there
